Love: What the Hell is It?

Love – that elusive, for some, state of mind…state of being that, for so many people, is THE defining factor in their lives.  We write songs about it.  We write poetry about it.  We write books about it.  We watch movies about it.  Seems that we will do nearly anything to find it…anything to keep it.  But again I ask…Love – what the hell is it?

It seems we can’t live without it.  We are told it “makes the world go around”.  Songs tell us “you’re nobody ’til somebody loves you”….and “all we need is love”.  Love – what the hell is it?

Many people are addicted to “falling in love”.  They have it in their lives, but they are addicted to the rush of affection – the headiness of the intense lust that washes over us when we begin that new journey discovering that new person.  They dedicate endless hours in pursuit of the next “rush”.

We are constantly called upon to “prove” our love.  We fall in love and feel it will be forever.  When it dissipates…where does it go?  Love – what the hell is it?

We are rapidly approaching the day that we “celebrate” love – Valentine’s Day.  Are you loved?  Are you “in love”?  Does the object of your affection KNOW it?  What was the very last thing you did to show them your feelings?  What will the two of you do to celebrate – commemorate the day we set aside for lovers?

If you have none to love – who loves you – then what?  What do you do?

Love – what the hell is it?
